Black Celluloid Dress Clip, Art Deco, ca. 1930s

Description

This chic dress clip is cut from black celluloid. It is deeply carved with a simple, sweeping design that almost looks like a spider to me. The clip measures about 1 3/4" x 1 1/2". The clip hardware on the back is marked "MADE U.S.A."
Condition is excellent with no major issues. Surface wear is minor, although the celluloid on the back has a bit of a hazy appearance. The riveted silvertone clip hardware has age-appropriate surface wear and functions perfectly.
Notes regarding care of your celluloid: Do not store it in a plastic/poly bag or box. Avoid contact with perfume or makeup. Store out of direct sunlight. These things can cause celluloid to dry out and become "sick." Do wear it, and enjoy it!
