There's also a mark (sm indentation or fingernail mark) at the shoulder's hip at the rear. This isn't damage but occurred during the vessel's realization & is underneath the glaze. This anomaly occurred while the clay was still wet & after being finished on the potter's wheel. The sm chip underneath the knobby, tapered pouring spout amounts to any damage on this otherwise very nice, early cer bottle, feat clean, clear & crisp stamped typography on the bottle's sloped upper shoulder, that reads 'R. Robinson, 1875.' It has a nice mottled putty white, glossy, reflective glaze that's got burnt umber speckles & episodes of burnt sienna complimenting it. There are no hairline cracks or fractures, blow-outs or unsightly stains marring this otherwise well-pres & now nearly 145 yr old stoneware cer bottle. It's wheel-thrown & has a wire cut baseplate. Most likely a beer bottle. Nice stamp.
